Episode 197: Billie Eilish “Everything I Wanted”
-The song came out of a dream she had where she had died and got to see what happened after she died
-Finneas crafted what became almost the entire instrumental for the song
-They used sidechaining
-The song was about the dream and getting everything she wanted(dying)
-They resumed making the song about six months later and wanted to change it to a more positive perspective
-They took the piano out for a bit to get people to notice it more
Episode 183: Tame Impala “It Might Be Time”
-“It sounds like he’s playing the drums 8000 times harder”
-“Theres something about an unexpected chord change… that I just gravitate towards”
-The song was meant to be a bit funny or lighthearted
Episode 53: The Martian
-There was no reason for the music to be too dark for too long in this film
-He wanted it to be an organic instrement
-He needed to embrace the scientific vibe of the music by using a synth
-They have a choir singing for infinite space
Episode 121: Stranger Things
-They didn’t start pitching ideas for the theme until a couple of episodes in
-They chose the theme from one of the fifty things they sent over on day one
-They used a heartbeat kind of sound
-They said it was hard to watch the show because they were too focused on the music/they already knew the plot
Episode 151: Hozier “Nina Cried Power”
-“I might be a sucker for dark piano”
-It’s kind of a song about being woke and social justice”It’s not the waking it’s the rising”
-It became a song that credited protest and direct action and everything that that has given us throughout history

- Today I learned more about how songs and music from movies/shows are made. I also worked in SoundTrap a little on my song. No problems today.
